Frequently Asked Questions

  • How do I take care of my stained glass piece?
To clean glass use warm Dawn soapy water, gently scrub and rinse. After your piece has been cleaned, pat dry with a towel. If your glass has painted detail please be extra careful or avoid these areas all together. Do not use Windex, any other cleaner or abrasive material on the piece as it can harm the solder. Stained glass will naturally oxidize over time, therefore if you want to liven up the solder lines to a shine you can re-polish using a microfiber cloth and carnauba wax.
  • Should I use a section cup to hang my suncatcher?
No, suction cups are not a reliable weight bearing hook. Two Glass Birds is not responsible for damage caused by a failed suction cup.
  • What is the best way to hang stained glass art?
If you plan on hanging your piece on a window do not use a suction cup, they aren’t reliable. Screw a hook into the window frame, or use a 4lb clear Command Strip hook instead and follow the package instructions. If hanging on a wall, use a nail or an eye hook which are more secure for heavier pieces.
  • My stained glass contains lead? Isn't lead harmful?
The solder I use is in my work is 60/40 and does contain a small percentage of lead, however lead is not transferable by touch. That being said, only use your stained glass pieces as intended. Do not wear leaded pieces on your person or use leaded pieces to serve food. Additionally, please keep your stained glass work out of the reach of children. After handling your stained glass piece, please wash your hands and follow the instructions sent in your package. If you have any questions or concerns regarding lead, please let me know.
  • What's the process for commissions?
All custom commissions require a 50% nonrefundable deposit before I begin cutting glass. The remaining balance must be paid before the piece will be shipped to its destination. The usual turn around for custom pieces is 4-6 weeks once a design has been confirmed. If you have questions regarding custom work please fill out a commissions request.
